On Valentines night I organized a location shoot for Newcastle University photography association , featuring 2 fantastic models Daria and Louise from Bohomodels. Thanks to Kyle Glen for assisting. I was inspired by the publicity posters from the recent Sherlock Holmes film and tried to recreate the style and feel of the posters. The shots where taken on a Canon 7d with the colour temp set at 2700 K and the flash unit used where Bowns gemini 500r for the backlight and a 250r for front light. I wanted to keep a cold feeling and used the colour temperature on the camera to add to the blue tones. I explained to the delegates the way in which I measure the ambient light at the scene and how I calculate the flash exposure. The most important thing in shooting with 2 light sources ( ambient and flash ) is to try retain the atmosphere and feeling of the shot and not overlight with your flash. Details of our next location fashion workshop are available on our website. On location......and the final results.
